Changes In The NLT
In this article, I want to look at some bible verses changed in the NLT compared to the old King James Version (KJV). Some differences are small, but others have big impacts on important Christian beliefs about Jesus, heaven, hell and so on.
As Christians, it’s helpful for us to know how modern Bible translations can tweak the words in ways that quietly reshape key biblical truths. The NLT translators wanted to boost readability, but they have sacrificed accuracy in some places. Knowing where versions differ allows us as readers to make wise choices for our own Bible study.
There are important differences between versions. We will see how key doctrines get reframed in subtle ways by the bible verses changed in the NLT. It’s crucial we recognize that not all Bible versions communicate God’s unchanging Word the same way.

Hebrews 1:3 - “by himself” purged our sins, is omitted
1 Peter 4:1 - suffered “for us” is omitted
1 Peter 4:14 - Partial Verse Removed
1 John 4:3 - “Christ is come in the flesh ” is omitted
1 John 5:7 - “and these three are one” is changed
1 John 5:13 - Partial Verse Removed
Revelation 1:11 - Partial Verse Removed
Revelation 5:14 - “him that liveth forever and ever” is omitted
