Jesus Is The End of The Law

The Law Is Holy
Romans 7:12-13 – Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
End Of The Law
With the coming of John the Baptist, more of God's salvation plan was revealed. Jesus is the savior of the world. The Mosaic law was never about being saved. It only served as an instructor for the Old Testament saints guiding them to understand that they could not be self-righteous; they needed to rely on God’s mercy.
Jesus explains that the time of the law and the prophets has ended with John the Baptist. The law and the prophets were the foundation of the faith and they pointed to the coming of the Messiah. John the Baptist came to prepare the way for Jesus and his ministry.
This next verse emphasizes the shift from the old covenant to the new covenant that Jesus brings. It marks a turning point in history where the fulfillment of God's promises to his people is being realized through Jesus. It also indicates that the Kingdom of God is now open to all who are willing to receive it.
Luke 16:16 – The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
Jesus is shown as the fulfillment of the Law and Prophets (Moses and Elijah). Moses and Elijah appearing and then disappearing while talking with Jesus represents the transition from the old covenant to the new covenant. Moses represents the law, as he was the one who received the law from God on Mount Sinai, and Elijah represents the prophets. Their appearance with Jesus signifies that Jesus is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.
Mark 9:2-8 – And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
This event was a powerful visual representation of the transition from the old covenant to the new covenant, with Jesus being the fulfillment of all that was written in the Old Testament.
John 1:17 – For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
